Keep these things in mind if you are moving house
Pro tip: Start collecting and/or buying boxes, masking tape, newspapers and bubble-wrap beforehand to wrap valuables.
The following people and parties should be notified of your move and new address:
Your friends and family.
Your employer.
Your housekeeper (if applicable).
Your gardener or garden service (if applicable).
Your fibre or internet provider (if applicable)
Your landline provider (if applicable).
Your cell phone provider.
Your bank.
Your child's school or place of education.
Your local municipality.
Your insurance company.
Your medical aid.
The South African Revenue Service.
Any physical subscription service you are subscribed to such as magazines, etc.
Every business you have an account with or owe money.
On the day of the big move
Be sure to leave your pets somewhere safe.
Get a reliable person to look after your children.
Have cash on hand (for an emergency situation, take-away meals or something to drink).
Clean the property properly (inside and out).
Make sure all the taps are closed.
Take out the garbage.
Close and lock all the window and lock all the doors.
Turn off all the lights and geyser.
Hand all the keys and remotes to the agent or new owner.
